As I Am:

Politics:

You can see that I comment on politics at a Canadian and Global level. You can equally see that I draw on many sources and listen to many voices. I have always been more interested in getting at the truth than defending that fickle and irrational dame; “partly political ideology”.

I am too far to the Right for some of my friends and too far to the Left for others. I see no point at all in disagreeing with someone when they speak the truth just because they also hold other views with which I am in active disagreement.

I believe in coalition politics which is to say that citizens of all political stripes can always unite around an issue of mutual concern and benefit regardless of how they may disagree about other cultural and political positions.

The way I see it, all political thought demands impartiality, objectivity and above all else, pragmatism guided by justice. Politically speaking these are my guiding lights, however poorly I may measure up to them. So be it.

I am currently in strong support of PM Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada. CPC. I have voted for PM Stephen Harper and the Conservatives twice now and intend to do so again. I am convinced that this leader and this party are by far the best custodians of this critical next stage in our national development.

Spirituality

I have been deeply engaged in spirituality my whole life and have passed through many phases and stages of development. I am unshakably convinced that there is a sacred eternal principle at the heart of all that exists. The human being is a spiritual being, given over to themselves, the world and the source of life within them, regardless of what they may currently believe or think about the nature of sacred reality.

I am equally convinced that this eternal sacred principle transcends all known religions, gods and goddesses. In this sense I see myself as a spiritual realist. The sacred is simultaneously transcendent and immanent. In other words it is immanently within every one of us and is the eternal source of all that lives.

The religions of the world are culturally colored and distorted reflections of eternal spiritual reality. For this reason I am not a member of any religion even though I can see the sacred, shattered and distorted, shining through all of them.

My ancestors are Christians and I celebrate their faith and honor their traditions. I absolutely insist on my right and the right of my family and community to positively celebrate Christmas, Easter and the other annual Christian festivals without apology, disrespect or hindrance. During these festivals my family and I reflect upon their spiritual meaning, and the lives of our blessed ancestors.
